Scarborough Ladies Under-14s defeat Scarborough Ladies Lionesses Under-14s in derby
It was derby day as Scarborough Lionesses Under-14s hosted Scarborough Ladies Under-14s at Ayton on a soggy Saturday morning, the Ladies running out eventual 7-1 winners to maintain their 100% record in the City of York Girls Football League so far this season.
It was the Ladies who raced into a 1-0 lead early on after a through-ball put Macey Crane through on goal and she finished well past the oncoming Lionesses goalkeeper.
The Lionesses roared back into the game after standing firm to a host of chances created by the Ladies but couldn’t find the net.
After a break away by the Lionesses a fine ball into the box found their striker Madi Storey in space and she fired the ball home to level the score at 1-1.

This stirred the Ladies into action and some fine play between Chloe McArthur and Mia Morris resulted in the McArthur going though on goal to finish well and restore the lead for the Ladies.
And it was roles reversed a few minutes later as McArthur played in Morris who struck home from distance and McArthur added to her tally right before half- time to make the scoreline 4-1.
The second half started as a much more even affair with much of the game being battled out in midfield and both teams creating chances at either end of the pitch.
But it was the Ladies who eventually added to the goal tally as Morris picked up a loose ball to run clear and slot pass the keeper.

Sophie Overfield also got on the scoresheet with a finish at the back post and Isla Williams rounded off the scoring firing home after a scramble in the box.
The girls of the game for the Ladies was awarded to Molly Lassey for great defensive play.
The Lionesses girls of the match were Thea McLean for a great debut and Poppy Timmins for never giving up and constant running.
